For 2025, based on your feedback, we have split the course into two days with the first day focusing on Foundations of Metalworking Fluids and the Second day a more advanced and science-based take.     Course Instructors

    Pat Brutto, Application Specialist and Founder, Faith-Full MWF Consulting
    Pat Brutto is Founder and Application Specialist for Faith-Full MWF Consulting, providing services to all segments of the metalworking fluids (MWF) value chain. Prior to this, Pat spent the majority of his career with Pennzoil Products Company as an industrial grease formulator, and with ANGUS Chemical Company, a producer of specialty additives for MWFs and many other markets, serving mainly in R&D and global technical services. Pat also spent time with Hangsterfer’s Laboratories, a producer of MWFs, in field technical services. He holds an M.Sc. degree in chemistry from DePaul University Chicago and is an STLE-certified metalworking fluid specialist (CMFS). He has served the Chicago Section STLE several times as Program Chair and Education Chair, and was also Section Chair in 2012-2013. Pat currently serves as co-chair of the STEM and Science Fairs committee.



    John Burke, Consultant at Quaker Houghton
    John Burke is a consultant at Quaker Houghton and was previously the Director of Engineering Services. He received his engineering degree from the University of Dayton in 1971. He has over 50 years of experience in the metalworking industry. He has 13 U.S. patents and more than 50 international patents. He is the author of two chapters in the Third Edition of the book Metalworking Fluids. John has been an instructor for the STLE Metalworking Fluid Education Course for the past 28 years. He is a Certified Metalworking Fluid Specialist. John is an associate editor for the STLE Journal Tribology Transactions. He received the P. M. Ku Award from STLE in 2006 and has been a Fellow of STLE since 2011. In 2015 he received the John A. Bellanti Award for dedicated service from the Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association. John received Governors awards in Ohio and Tennessee for waste minimization projects. John received an award from then-President George Bush at the White House in 1991 for advances in waste minimization. 



    Stephanie Cole, Sale Manager, Munzing Corporation
    Stephanie Cole joined Munzing Corporation in January 2023 the sales manager for Munzing’s IFL division servicing the Midwest and Southeast.  Stephanie received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a minor in marketing at the University of Houston in Texas. Originally from Texas, she now resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Stephanie has been in the industrial lubricant industry since 2009 and has experience in application support and formulating a variety of industrial fluids including: metalworking fluids, industrial cleaning fluids, and industrial lubricants. In her current position at Munzing, her role is to provide customers with technical solutions while working alongside Munzing’s technical team




    Monica A. Ford, Account Manager, Clariant Corporation 
    Monica A. Ford, Ph.D., is a seasoned professional in the lubricants industry, currently serving as the Account Manager for Industrial Lubricants and Special Applications at Clariant Corporation. With a strong academic background, including a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida, Monica has held various technical and leadership roles at renowned companies like Lubrizol and Ingevity. Her expertise extends to research, application development, and new product development. She is actively involved in industry associations, contributing to the advancement of the field through her roles in STLE and ILMA. Monica's passion for her work and her dedication to professional development are evident in her impressive career trajectory. 


    James Justice, Staff Materials Engineer, John Deere
    James Justice has been with John Deere for nearly 13 years and is currently a Staff Engineer in the Enterprise Materials Engineering team. He currently provides global technical support for factory fluids, plating, industrial coatings, cleanliness, chemical management, amongst other related areas and competencies. Before John Deere, he spent nearly a decade in the Chemical Management Services industry. James has a bachelor’s in biology from the University of Northern Iowa and is currently pursuing an MBA from of the University of Iowa. Outside of work, James, his wife and six children enjoy travelling and spending time outdoors. 



    Jennifer Lunn, Product Manager Mill Applied Corrosion Preventives/Metalforming Lubricants, Fuchs Lubricants Company
    Jennifer Lunn is a Product Manager at FUCHS’ Metal Forming Lubricants and Mill Applied Corrosion Preventatives department. Jen comes with more than 20 years of experience in the metalworking fluid industry as both a chemist and product manager.  Prior to that, Jen was a Senior Chemist and Metalworking Product Manager at JTM Prodcut Inc. where she worked on research in metalworking products.  Jen is also CMFS certified with STLE.   





    Peter Kuenzi, Head of Microbiology, Blaser Swisslube AG
    Dr. Peter Küenzi holds a PhD from the University of Bern, Switzerland. He has more than 20 years of experience in molecular biology, biochemistry and microbiology and is currently Head of the Microbiology Department at Blaser Swisslube, a manufacturer of metalworking fluids. He is co-author of several articles on this topic in international journals.
