How long have you been a member of STLE?
I joined ASLE in 1984, wrote my first paper for publication in Lubrication Engineering in 1986, and have been involved with STLE education since 1998. I've served as a course chair, education committee vice chair and chair. I was the founding chair of the MWF Education and Training Committee and have chaired the 2.5-day Metalworking Fluid Certificate Training Course since its inception in 2003. I'm a CMFS and STLE Fellow. I've received two Wilber Deutsch Memorial Awards the P.M. Ku Meritorious Award, and the Raymond L. Thibault Excellence in Education Award. I've presented papers at nearly every annual meeting since 1984.

How has STLE helped you throughout your career?
During my early years, STLE provided me with unparalleled networking opportunities with fellow microbiologists. Since 1992, STLE networking has been a primary tool for developing and maintaining relationships with clients. Additionally, it has provided me with a forum for sharing what I know about metalworking fluid and lubricant microbiology.

What is the greatest benefit you get from your STLE Membership?
The greatest benefit for me is the networking opportunity that attending STLE meetings provides.
