In honor of Bob Erck, a kind soul and brilliant tribologist, this donation in honor of his dedication, meticulous nature, and generosity in sharing knowledge. Over the past 12 years, he inspired excellence— not only as a researcher, mentor, and photographer but also through his invaluable tribometer operational videos, which continue to guide and empower many in their tribology journey at Argonne National Lab.
Bob Erck was a friend, colleague, and mentor who will be dearly missed. It is comforting to know that his memory will live on with the many students and interns that he mentored throughout his career in tribology.
Bob was a dear friend whom I worked with over 30 years at Argonne National Laboratory. Always helpful, full of energy and creative ideas for any type of problems. Rest in peace and have comfort in Heaven Bob.
Bob has encouraged many generations of young tribologists through the STLE annual meetings, and he will be missed.
I had the privilege of working with Bob as a poster judge at recent STLE conferences. Bob truly loved interacting with the students and recognizing their work. It was so fulfilling to just be around him during that process and any time I was lucky enough to cross paths with him. Bob will be genuinely missed, but I'm sure his legacy in outreach and recognition of upcoming Tribologists will always live on.
In memory of my friend and colleague, who donated his time and expertise selfishly in support of recognizing and rewarding new talent in our field. I will always remember his perfect radio voice announcing poster contest winners at the Annual Meeting.
