NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF THE CAGE AND RINGS INFLUENCE ON THE BALL DRAG COEFFICIENT
Modern high-speed rolling element bearings (REBs) are subjected to critical working conditions close to the material limits in term of stresses and temperatures. In order to avoid these conditions and also to reduce energy consumption the mechanism of generating power losses need to be understood. While several models aim at predicting global power losses they give no information on the locations of the sources of power loss. It seems however that this latter information is important when accurate prediction of the overall rolling bearing element behavior is wanted.
