1. Finger Spring:
A spring which has flexible fingers. The latter can be designed to produce either a radial or an axial sealing force.

2. Inner Case:
A rigid, cup-shaped component of a seal assembly, which is place inside the outer seal case. It has one or more of the following functions: reinforcing member, shield, spring retainer, and lip-clamping devices.

3. Outer Case:
A thin-wall metal structure which encases the lip-seal assembly and contains the inner case, the primary-seal ring, the spring parts, and the secondary seal.

4. Sealing Element:
The normally flexible elastomeric component of a lip seal assembly, which rides against the rotating surface and effects the seal.
