Hamed Eksiri,
Lubricants Development Lead - Driveline & EV
Chevron Products Company
What is your role at your organization?
I lead technology development, product life cycle management, and technical OEM and industry relationships for conventional and xEV drivelines and support our growing grease and immersion cooling lubricants and solutions for battery electric vehicles. Internally, I consult a wide range of Chevron stakeholders on technology, markets, customers, partnerships and regulations in fuels, lubricants, energy, and sustainability domains. Externally, I represent Chevron in national and international professional associations and trade organizations, teach technical courses, serve on local community boards and task force committees, advocate for/across different industries, and develop new business opportunities with/for our partners and customers using technology and by leveraging the growing focus on sustainability, circular economy, and global NetZero targets.
What products or services does your organization provide?
Chevron Products Company, a division of Chevron U.S.A., develops, produces, and distributes petroleum-based fuels and lubricants for mobility, transportation, commercial and industrial sectors, and different industries worldwide. Chevron Phillips Chemical (joint venture) and Chevron Oronite make petrochemicals and lubricant and fuel additives. I work for the Chevron Technical Center division of Chevron U.S.A. Inc. which provides technology services in support of these businesses.
How long have you been a member of STLE?
Since my time in grad school (2012), I've taken advantage of STLE publications, trainings, tech talks, industry insights and networking opportunities. In return, I have developed curriculum and contents for STLE professional development courses, I serve as an ambassador for new STLE members and other professional associations (i.e. SAE and CTI) and seek out opportunities for alignment of technology developers, manufacturers and service providers in electric mobility ecosystem through partnerships within lubricants industry and with other associations and their leadership.
How has STLE helped you throughout your career?
To this date, I have gained insights and invaluable knowledge and experience over the course of different technical, professional and business engagements that my active participation in STLE programs and community has enabled. I could not have had all of this without STLE.
What is the greatest benefit you get from your STLE Membership?
Insights, relationships, recognition, community, fun!
What would you say to others looking to get involved with STLE?
Reflect on your values, mission and aspirations. Then, reach out to your close circle of friends, colleagues and partners to find out examples of success, areas of growth and opportunities for improvement in yourself and STLE community. From that point, continue staying in touch with your growing network and leverage your insights and recognition during this process. Soon, you will find what you dis/like about the challenges and future of your time at STLE. Then, share your experience with others, especially the STLE leaders, and suggest them new ways to improve those elements or elevate yourself and others. If you're willing to do more, nominate yourself for a leadership position at your desired level, and continue this journey!
